User instructions

Life-Bed is designed for easy handling and use.

Easy to use – by everyone.

Life-Bed is designed so it is easy to use and handle by everyone. No skills are needed, no tool is needed and no pump is needed. All you need is your mouth. It has a one-way self sealing valve, så the air does not “run backwards” while Life-Bed. There is no plug or other mechanism to fumble with. All you need is to blow air into the valve.
As a result of its design Life-Bed can be used by everyone no matter what age or skills you have. Are you young or old, strong or weak – it makes no difference. Even under cold conditions with stiff, wet or cold fingers you can still get it inflated without problems.

Read also Technical info to learn more about the possiblilities you have with Life-Bed.

Life-Bed has 6 separate chamber. Each chamber has to be inflated separately.

Each chamber has a valve (Red arrow) clearly marked with blow on each side of it.

Do NOT stick anything into the valve. If you do that the valve will break. The horisontal line where the red arrow ends, marks the absolute endpoint of any object.
If an object passes this line, the valve will not work properly and the mattress will lose air rapidly.

IMPORTANT! Please note that Life-Bed can only be used in temperatures above zero degreee Celcius. If exposed to temperatures below zero the material becomes fragile and will eventually break.

Life-Bed must be stored in temperatures between 14 and 29 degree celcius under dark conditions. If stored correctly it has a shelflife up to 10 years,

Life-Bed is constructed with 4 layers of polypropylene. On each side the outside layers is a colored non-vowen fabric, and under that is a transparent layer.

Locate the valve hole by gently dragging the layers from each other where the BLOW text is.

It is extremely important that it is inflated by mouth only. Do NOT use any kind of pump no matter if it is mechanical or electrical. Life-Beds one-way selfsealing valve can only withstand an airflow of maximum 15 liters per minute. Any airspeed higher than that will break the valve, and result in much quicker loss of airpressure.

Now when you have located the valve hole, blow air into the chamber and continue until it is firmly inflated.

It is important that Life-Bed is inflated until it is relatively firm. Not hard as a rock but still firm. The reason for that is that the valve seals itself from the inside airpressure. If the airpressure is to low, then it will quickly lose air.

Please note that it is natural that it loses airpressure little by little every day. But that is not a problems since you can always top up the air.

Why are we producing Life-Beds?

The purpose of Life-Bed was originally helping refugess and internally displaced people.

The idea came one night in November 2013 when watching TV. There was a broadcast from a typhoon in the Philippines. Buildings were destroyed, lands were flooded, people had nowhere to sleep than on the bare humid soil. They were all wet and freezing. Roads were destroyed or blocked. It was impossible to reach the hit areas with trucks or other vehicles that could bring the people mattresses and blankets.
We looked at each other and decided to find a better solution. Much better than big mattresses that have to be loaded onto trucks.
We wanted to invent a mattress that is packed very small, is easy to distribute, is waterproof and insulating. We decided to find the perfect solution for displaced people, refugees and other people in need of an instant resting and sleeping solution. A mattress that can be lifted by air all over the world within 24 hours.
After a lot of work and thinking, we finally found the perfect solution: Life-Bed.
